GRUNDY CENTER - The Grundy Center Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Grundy Center are pairing up to bring the community a unique event early next month - the Spring Fling and Sip and Shop event - which will be hosted in Grundy Center’s downtown district.
According to GC Chamber Director Laura Cahalan and MSGC Director Lisa Bienfang, the first-of-its-kind event aims to bring shoppers together to support local businesses, and to bring outside boutique owners to town in the hopes of promoting storefront retail and rental opportunities in Grundy Center.
“We are dusting off the remains of winter, and welcoming spring with open arms. Spring Fling is bringing together business and community to offer a one-of-a-kind shopping experience and a fun way to support Grundy Center,” said GC Chamber Director Laura Cahalan.
The Spring Fling event, hosted by the Chamber, will last from March 7 to March 10 and will offer shoppers incentives for their patronage at local businesses participating in the event.
During this time, community members can take advantage of exclusive deals at participating businesses, while earning entry into a special shopping contest. Each purchase made at a participating business will provide an entry into a drawing. Purchases will be tracked with a punch card, which will be turned into Grundy Center Chamber of Commerce's office for validation. Prizes will be available for the person who shops at the most stores and to the person with the highest dollar amount spent (receipts must be included for consideration for this prize. Receipts will be returned to owner after validation).
The Sip and Shop Pop Up Boutique Market, hosted by MSGC, will take place at the former True Value building on Main Street beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10.
MSGC Director Lisa Bienfang noted that nine stores from all over Iowa will be setting up a Pop Up Shop in the building, which will also feature a VIP Lounge complete with cash bar, light snacks, chair massage, and exclusive coupon book.
Bienfang says bringing these out-of-town boutiques to Grundy Center for a day will not only give local shoppers a chance to peruse some new goods, but it will help show business owners around the state that there are excellent storefront retail opportunities in Grundy Center.
