GRUNDY CENTER – Will Grames won four events, Derek Ciddio won three, and the Grundy Center boys track and field team added another team title to the trophy case for this spring.

The Spartans had no trouble winning the boys team title at the Co-Ed Invite in Grundy Center last Friday, scoring 194 points and finishing well-ahead of runner-up North Linn's 133 points.

Grundy Center won a total of 10 events on Friday. Grames struck gold in the long jump and picked up all three sprint events in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races. Ciddio won the high jump, 1,600 and 3,200. Jensen Clapp added a win in the 800 as the Spartans swept all individual running events. Matthew Sternhagen won the discus, part of a 1-2 finish with Payton McMartin, who was also second in the shot put.

The Spartans only had one relay win on the night, saving the best for last in the 4x400 with Logan Knaack, Matt Jansen, Caleb Kuiper and Clapp on the relay running a winning 3:36.98 time.

The Grundy Center girls weren't too far off the boys' pace, winning nine events of their own for a second-place finish with 135 team points. West Marshall won the team title with 159 points and AGWSR was fourth with 103 points.
