After four years at the helm of the BCLUW boys’ basketball program, Coach Luke Higgins recently announced his resignation in a letter to the district’s school board.

Higgins, a BCLUW alum, compiled a record of 18-68 (.209) during his tenure and served as an assistant coach for three years prior to taking the head job.

“It has been my passion for those seven years to help shape and mold the future of the young men in our community. Unfortunately, my passion is being pulled hard between our kids and the young men I work with,” he wrote in his letter. “As my children grow, I feel like they need me to be a big part of their lives.”

Later in the letter, Higgins referred to “alleged allegations made against me toward the end of the 2018-2019 season” and reiterated that they played no part in his decision to step down.

“This has been rumored as the reason I am resigning, and that is not the case,” he wrote. “It has been investigated and findings showed no wrong doing (sic) by me, and the problem was resolved without incident.”
