WAVERLY – The Hudson/Dike- New Hartford girls’ soccer team went 2-1 at the Waverly tournament Saturday. The Pirates defeated Decorah 2-0 and South Tama 10-0, while falling to Class 1A No. 6 Denver 2-1. During the week Hudson/D-NH dropped a road game against ninthranked Columbus 4-1 Thursday, after a scoreless double overtime game with Denver ended in a 4-3 shootout in favor of the Cyclones on Tuesday.
“This week was a busy and challenging week,” Hudson/D-NH head coach Courtney Dreyer said. “Our starting center defender went down earlier in the week to an injury so we had to move multiple people around for the last four games. We had great leadership from underclassmen as they stepped into some big roles and helped our team tremendously. The team is doing well and we are excited to see how the rest of the season pans out.”
