Isle Kay Saathoff

Isle Kay Saathoff, 80, of Wellsburg, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023 at the Grundy Care Center.

Funeral services were Friday, September 1 at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley with burial in the West Friesland Cemetery.

Isle Kay Saathoff was born to Delma (aka Smokey) Legget and Henry John Saathoff Jr on Dec. 11, 1942, in Iowa Falls. Isle Kay attended Geneva Consolidated School in Geneva, graduating with the class of 1961.

She was married to Merle Kalmbach in Selby, South Dakota on October 27, 1961. They later divorced. She then married Kenneth L. Janssen in Princeton, Missouri on April 16, 1996.

Isle Kay gave piano lessons in Selby and played with an old-time dance band. She was employed in California and Wellsburg at one time and was last employed by Snittjer Grain Co. in Wellsburg and retired in 2005. She and Kenneth loved country music and traveled to many concerts in many places over the years. Kenneth preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2014. A daughter Karen Kay Kalmbach was born on Nov. 14, 1967, and died the same day.

Isle Kay is survived by sisters, Sherry (Kenneth) Badger of Pierre, South Dakota, Rolla Geisinge (friend Mike) of Eldora, brother Carroll aka Feller (Patti) Frederickson of Amarillo, Texas; stepchildren Karen (Mark) Erickson of Kellogg, Kela (Rick) Stegan of Eldora, Kevin Janssen of Eldora, and Kelli (Jeff) Nehring of Hubbard, many nieces and nephews and very special friends too numerous to number.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her Aunt Carrie and many other aunts and uncles.
