Kimberly Stubbolo

Kimberly Kay 'Kimbi' Stubbolo

1968 - 2023

Kimberly Kay “Kimbi” Stubbolo, 54, of Conrad passed away at home on Aug. 3, 2023, after a battle with cancer.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 9 at Orchard Hill Church in Grundy Center. Interment was at the Conrad Cemetery.

Kimberly was born to Ken and Betty Nason on August 28, 1968, in Craig, Colo. She attended West Marshall School District for the entirety of her elementary and secondary education. After graduating high school, Kimberly attended Evangel College in Springfield, Mo., where she graduated with a degree in accounting in 1991. Kimberly subsequently worked in accounting departments at several private firms and government offices. Although always humble about her work, she was highly regarded by her colleagues as a dependable, hardworking, and meticulous accountant. Kimberly met her future husband Mark Stubbolo at a concert in Kansas City. They began dating in 1995 and were married in October of the following year. After their marriage, Kimberly and Mark moved to Chesapeake, Vir. and later to Salisbury, N.C. before moving back to the Midwest, settling down in Belton, Mo. in 1998. In 2009, the family moved to Olathe, Kan., before finally moving north to set up a homestead at the Nason family home in Conrad in 2020. More than anything else, Kimberly cherished her family, and her children were her pride and joy. Some of her happiest times were her years as a stay-at-home mom to her children Rick, Sarah, and Michael.

An accomplished musician, Kimberly played the flute throughout her life. She performed in a variety of groups including the 1985 and 1986 Iowa All-State Band, the pit orchestra at Antioch Church in Overland Park, and an exclusive family musical group that only dared perform privately during Nason family Christmas gatherings. Kimberly was an instant friend to everyone she met. Her kindness and selflessness could make a friend of the hardest enemy and make anyone feel special. Her faith influenced every part of her life, and she epitomized grace, humility, and love. Romans 10:13 was especially close to her heart in recent days: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Kimberly is survived by her husband of 26 years, Mark Stubbolo of Conrad; children Rick Stubbolo of Conrad, Sarah Stubbolo of Overland Park, Kan. and Michael Stubbolo of Camp Lejeune, N.C.; parents Ken and Betty Nason of Hubbard; sister Angelita (David) Garth of Kirksville, Mo. and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and sisters- and brothers-in-law. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Anderson Funeral Homes in Conrad has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.
