DES MOINES – While this year's state experience still wasn't quite what Dike-New Hartford girls track and field were looking for, the Wolverines did bring home some hardware.

Taylor Kvale finished fourth in the 400 hurdles and Alexis Jensen nabbed eighth in the 400-meter run at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Kvale ran 1:06.87 in the distance hurdling event, not quite up to speed with her qualifying time but running in much worse conditions than the state-qualifying meet with the Blue Oval soaked from Friday rains.

Unity Christian's Mikayla Turek won in 1:03.89. Third through sixth place in the event were separated by less than a half-second.

"The girls up front helped me push and made me try my best," Kvale said. "It allowed me to chase someone, which is nice."
