Oltman named Felix Grundy Grand Marshal

GRUNDY CENTER – For the past 28 years, he’s spent each and every Felix Grundy Festival working behind the scenes; whether it was setting up street barricades and directing traffic as a police officer, driving the fire truck in the parade as a member of the fire department, responding to emergencies as an EMT for the ambulance crew, or just helping out with the festival on his days off.
After finally retiring in January of this year, Terry Oltman was planning to enjoy his first Felix Grundy Festival off duty. But then he got the call – the call to be the 2016 Felix Grundy Festival Grand Marshal.
“My plan was to sit in the shade in my lawn chair and watch the parade from start to finish,” Oltman said. “And I guess that’ll wait another year.”
Oltman said he was surprised, but very honored to have been chosen.
“I’ve always just done my job and kept to myself, so this was quite a shock and an honor,” he said.
