Quick Rebels zip past Spartans

Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys basketball can't exactly go toe-to-toe with some of Grundy Center's big players in the post.

What the Rebels could do was disrupt the Spartans' half-court offense, with G-R's three experienced guards – Jackson Kiburis, Eli Thede and Tyler Tscherter – wreaking havoc in the passing lanes as G-R got some easy buckets early and hit free throws down the stretch to seal a 52-36 victory against Grundy Center on Friday.

Kiburis led the Rebels with 25 points, including 14-of-17 shooting at the free-throw line. Tyler Tscherter contributed 10 points and Dylan Riffey and Thede dropped in six points each.

"We had to make sure guys like [Joe] Johnson or [Tanner] Appel couldn't get inside position on us for easy buckets," Jackson Kiburis said. "We definitely limited their buckets and executed well."
