A Reinbeck woman was pronounced dead at the scene after a single vehicle crash on the west edge of Morrison on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release issued by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, 59-year-old Vanessa Wilson was travelling east when she left the road, entered the south ditch and struck a tree. The Iowa State Patrol, Reinbeck Fire, Reinbeck Ambulance and Grundy Center Ambulance departments all arrived on the scene within minutes, and Ms. Wilson was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Her identity was withheld until Thursday morning to allow for relatives to be notified.

The cause of death is pending in lieu of an autopsy, and the accident remains under investigation. Penning indicated that Wilson worked at The Mill convenience store along Highway 20, and the roads were not slick at the time of the crash. Funeral information was not immediately available.
