School Board approves early retirement plan

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center School Board last week approved an early retirement plan for its licensed employees.
The plan, which was approved following a lengthy exempt session, allows employees who are at least 55 years old with at least seven years of service as a full-time licensed employee to the district to receive an incentive package of $36,000 paid in three equal annual installments while also allowing the retiree to remain on the School District’s group health insurance plan under the same conditions that would apply if they were still employed by the District. Several conditions also apply.
The Grundy Center Educators Association, which represents certified staff in contract negotiations, voiced its approval of the plan in a formal letter to the District noting that it would not challenge the policy changes at the bargaining table or through a prohibited practice complaint.
