The Grundy County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two accidents that occurred in the county last week. Both accidents resulted in persons being taken to the hospital for treatment.

On Monday, January 7, the Sheriff’s Dept. was called to a single vehicle accident on Highway 20 just east of county road T-55 at Dike.

According to authorities, 50-year-old Sheila Smith of Cedar Falls was headed eastbound on Highway 20 by Dike when her vehicle went off the road in the curve. Smith overcorrected, lost control and entered the south ditch, rolling several times. Smith and a passenger were taken to an area hospital for treatment, and the 1999 Jeep that Smith was driving was totaled.
