Social media threat leads to school lockdown in Grundy Center

Currently, the Grundy Center Secondary building is on lockdown after a person allegedly posted an online threat to the school this morning.
Superintendent Jerry Schutz says there is no immediate threat to students’ safety, as the person who allegedly posted the threat is not at the school. According to Schutz, sources say that the person is currently located outside of Grundy County, but is expected to be in police custody soon.
Grundy Center Police Department officer Justin Fox responded to the school shortly after 10:30 this morning and has been posted outside of the school since. 
Schutz says the school will remain on lockdown until the threat has been cleared.
KWWL Channel 7 first reported the incident at 10:25 this morning.
 
UPDATE: The person responsible for the threat has been taken into law enforcement custody, and the Grundy Center Secondary school was released from lockdown status around 12:15 p.m. today, April 6.
