GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center boys pounded East Marshall in the first half of a 62-34 rout in Grundy Center on Friday night.

The Spartans left no doubt, busting off an overwhelming 30-0 run in the first half to put the game away early and end a six-game winless streak with authority. Grundy Center led 36-7 at halftime.

Cale Hendricks put up a season-high 18 points to lead the Spartans, with Joe Johnson contributing 14 points and Tanner Appel scoring eight points.

"The energy was high," Hendricks said. "We played with a lot of intensity and that kept us going. We played good defense in the beginning and that just fueled the fire after that and was pretty huge for offensive success, too."

Grundy Center improved to 3-8 overall with the win and 2-6 in North Iowa Cedar League West play.
