GRUNDY CENTER – It seems it wouldn’t be district track if it wasn’t rainy and wet, but the soggy conditions in Grundy Center last Thursday night didn’t limit the accomplishments or dampen the spirits of the competitors at the Class 1A district track and field meet.
Grundy Center had its share of success at the meet, with six Spartan athletes qualifying for the state meet in six different events including one field event, two relays, and three individual running events.
Spartan senior Brock Rohler capped off his final district track meet with a gold medal in the discus with a throw of 152 feet 11 inches. Rohler also qualified for the state meet along with Jordan Stoner, Bryce Flater, and Jack Stumberg as part of the Spartan first place 4 x 100-meter relay team. Stoner, Adam Kaufman, Flater, and Stumberg also brought home a gold medal in the 4 x 200 after improving on their best time by one and one-half seconds.
