GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center football team brought physicality to the line of scrimmage against South Hamilton last Friday.

The Spartans clamped down on the Hawks' run-first offense and put up 415 yards of total offense in a 40-6 rout of South Hamilton at Grundy Center High School.

Grundy Center improves to 2-0, entering district play at home against on Friday. Several football polls in the state have taken notice and put the Spartans in their top 10 rankings in Class A as a result of Friday's dominant win.

Spartan head coach Travis Zajac heaped praise on his assistant coaching staff–defensive coordinator Chris Conger; linemen coaches Scott Muller and Gary Knaack; and offensive/defensive backs coaches Jeff Dole and Nathan Hunt–for having the right gameplan in place to help the Spartan boys to a dominant victory.

"I lean on those guys like nobody's business," Zajac said. "They've helped me a ton in this transition as a new head coach. … These guys teach and motivate our kids and I give them as much flexibility and freedom as possible to make that happen. … The kids are excited but far from satisfied, and we move on into next week."
