Spartan football tames Tigers

ELDORA – The Grundy Center football team got back on track with a 35-20 victory over South Hardin in Eldora last Friday night.

The Spartans came up short against Gladbrook-Reinbeck in Week 1, 28-7, in part due to penalties and mistakes that limited Grundy Center's potential to finish touchdown drives.

Limiting those trouble areas against the Tigers was key to reversing the result last Friday, Grundy Center head coach Brent Thoren said.

"We had sustained drives that concluded with points on the board," Thoren said. "We did a great job running the football and multiple guys contributed to that effort."

Caleb Kuiper continued his steady start to the season with 27 carries for 169 yards and three touchdowns, with Spartan quarterback Jake Bangasser adding two second-quarter touchdowns on six total carries.
