CEDAR RAPIDS — Lori Willis knew Western Christian volleyball was going to give Grundy Center a challenge with its offensive firepower.
The Spartans' head coach just didn't figure the Wolfpack would be so sharp defensively, too.
The state's top-ranked team in Class 2A blitzed the Spartans in straight sets to end Grundy Center's impressive postseason run in the state quarterfinals, with an overall record of 25-17.
The Wolfpack won 25-11, 25-17, 25-16.
"We knew that's what we were up against," Willis added. "They did a great job with [their defense] but we passed right there with them, we served right there with them, we blocked right there with them. That's a measuring stick for what we can improve upon for next year."
Kylie Willis put down six kills to lead Grundy Center's attack and Sydney Matthews added team-highs in assists (18) and digs (5).
