The Grundy County Board of Supervisors approved the fiscal year 2020 budget with an amendment to the general supplemental levy and rejected a request from GNB Bank for the use of the courthouse grounds during Felix Grundy Days during Monday morning’s regular meeting.

The finalized budget includes projected revenues of $17,584,628 and expenditures of $18,711,521, with roads and transportation gobbling up the largest chunk of expenditures at over $5.7 million. The only amendment came to the general supplemental levy, which will now be set at $0.66261 per $1,000 of valuation.

County custodian Mark Jungling spoke to the board about a request from GNB to access the courtroom during Felix Grundy Days and throw candy out of the window, and he recommended denying the request due to safety concerns. The board voted 4-1 to reject the request, with Barb Smith dissenting.
