Supervisors approve Wolf Creek Bridge contract documents

During a brief meeting at the Secondary Roads building on Monday morning, the Grundy County Board of Supervisors approved contract documents with PCI of Reinbeck for one of the largest and most ambitious bridge replacement projects in its five-year plan, the structure near Wolf Creek Park to the east of Beaman along the county’s southern border.
           
In all, the work will cost nearly $1 million—$958, 826.71, to be exact—and a crew from PCI should start soon. County Engineer Gary Mauer also announced that after five years, the H Avenue bridge west of Conrad has finally reopened. The county spent $142,000 of the $710,000 total on that project, and the remainder of the funding came via a federal grant that the city of Conrad qualified for.
           
The board voted unanimously to terminate a temporary 28E agreement with Hardin County for the sharing of assistant county attorney services through Heronimus, Schmidt, Schroeder, Allen and Geer after the death of longtime Hardin County Attorney Rick Dunn earlier this summer. Darrell Meyer, who previously practiced in Marshalltown, has since taken over Dunn’s old position.
