Mark Mann from the Public Professional and Maintenance Employees Local 2003 asked the Grundy County Board of Supervisors for a four percent across the board raise on behalf of the secondary roads department during Monday morning’s regular meeting.

“We’re going to bargain in good faith, but we—at the end of this process—are committed to maintaining a full agreement allowable by law,” Mann said. “It’s pretty straightforward.”

In addition, Mann requested a one-year contract and acknowledged that certain clauses will need to be removed because of changes in the state’s collective bargaining laws for public employees. All of the sides involved agreed that the new legislation would create some initial confusion.

“We have full expectations that we’re just going to have to work through this process. Our goal is to have a voluntary agreement with the county and have as complete a contract as is allowable,” Mann said.
