A 28-year-old Reinbeck man has been arrested and charged with attempting to rob the 405 Lounge last Monday.

According to court records, Austin Ditty, who had worked at the establishment, admitted to county law enforcement officials that he used a pre-paid Visa card twice to gain entry into the locked bar and steal food and liquor. Surveillance video identified him as a suspect, and 405 owner Jack Brandt, who stayed at the bar after it closed, apprehended Ditty.

Ditty is facing a Second Degree Attempted Burglary charge, a Class D felony, and he was released to pretrial services on March 13. An initial appearance has been postponed from March 18 to March 25, and a trial date has not yet been set.

Brandt told The Grundy Register that he didn’t have much to add to the details included in the police report.
