UniFirst hints at expansion, jobs at former A-Kleen location

GRUNDY CENTER — A long-time Grundy Center business is seeiing a period of transition. UniFirst Corp., based out of Wilmington, Mass. with more than 225 locations nationwide, has acquired the A-Kleen from original owners Randy and Joanne Nelson, who founded the Grundy Center company in 2001.
    Joey Hightower, general manager of UniFirst, said in an interview conducted via e-mail that the company’s founders and top executives have been friends with the Nelson’s for nearly 10 years.
    “So when it came time for the Nelsons to exit the industry for new ventures, it was natural for the two parties to enter into acquisition discussions,” he said.
