Wellsburg Fire Dept. receives donation for new generator

Though they may be a small town department, Wellsburg Fire and Rescue isn’t sitting idle; instead they are working hard to make sure their equipment is up to date so that when an emergency strikes, they’re equipped to handle it.

The latest project the Wellsburg Fire Department and their dedicated fundraising group - the Wellsburg Fire and Rescue Foundation Inc. - are working towards is purchasing a new generator for their rescue vehicle.

The department’s current generator - which is used at the scene of a fire, for extrication purposes, scene lighting, traffic control and more - is showing signs of wear and tear, which has prompted the department to start searching for a newer, more reliable generator.

Earlier this week, the department got a big boost in the upgrade project from The Mill Convenience Store in Holland, which donated $1,000 to help purchase a new generator.

“We want to thank The Mill for their continued help and efforts within the community and for allowing us to use this money for our department’s needs,” said Wellsburg Fire Chief Greg Winger.
