Work begins on new duplex downtown

GRUNDY CENTER - A new construction project has kicked off in downtown Grundy Center, as work commences on the new duplex being built on the former First Baptist Church lot across from the courthouse.

Back in November, Lance Moeller of Moeller Concrete and Landscaping won a bid to purchase the property from the City of Grundy Center with plans to build a single story duplex on the lot.

His crew has been on the site the last couple of weeks doing groundwork in preparation for the big build.
“We’re glad to be getting started on the project,” Moeller said. “We’re still in the initial stages right now, but we hope to have a majority of the work finished by September so we can wrap up the inside during the winter.”

The duplex will be zero entry and handicap accessible, with attached garages for each side.
