Supervisors approve property rezone near Reinbeck

The Grundy County Board Supervisors voted 4-0 to rezone a property outside of Reinbeck and split it into two during Monday morning’s regular meeting.
           
Reinbeck-area supervisor Mark Schildroth abstained from voting because the deal involved a relative of his. Paul Cooley, who is buying the property, reported that there were two separate houses, but they had previously been considered a single property.
           
After closing a public hearing, the board moved from first to third reading to ensure that the zoning change will take effect immediately.
           
Assistant County Attorney Steve Cox presented documents related to the hot mix asphalt overlay project on Highway 175 west of Highway 14 and also spoke on the process surrounding the upcoming Highway 14 road work. Schildroth inquired about county road T47, which runs from Highway 175 between Grundy Center and Morrison south to Lincoln and Gladbrook. Secondary roads officials hope to start work on fixing the potholes at the 175 intersection in 2019.
           
“It’s going to be a long time until next summer,” Schildroth said.
