Sweeney stops in Grundy Center

GRUNDY CENTER - Last Thursday, Republican State Senator Annette Sweeney stopped through Grundy Center to meet with constituents and answer questions before the upcoming election next month, when she will once again face off against Democratic Senate opponent Tracy Freese.
 
Sweeney took time Thursday morning to meet with locals over coffee at Manly Drug, before heading over to the Natural Grind Coffee Shop for a meet and greet.
 
“I stopped at Manly’s this morning and had some good, candid conversations with folks there,” Sweeney said. “We talked about issues and things affecting people locally; I think it’s always good to sit down with people and hear what they have to say.”
 
Sweeney says her main goal with the upcoming election is to remind people that she’s working for the interest of rural Iowa - not just farmers, but also those who live, work, raise families and own businesses in rural, small towns.
 
“I come from a small town, and I still live in the same house I grew up in,” she said. “I believe in rural areas; and I know it takes a village to make things work in small communities. So that’s why it’s important for individuals to come out and share their opinions and their input and interact toward the bigger goal.”
