Girls golf roundup: Grundy Center wins twice to start the season

Grundy Center girls golf defeated South Hardin last Monday, April 11 and won a home meet on April 12 as the Spartans finally got to their first competitions of the season.

In Tuesday’s meet at Town & Country, Avery Dirks and Brylee Hoeg each shot 47s to elad Grundy Center to a win with a 200 team score, 38 strokes better than runner-up Union. Hoeg was awarded medalist honors and Dirks runner-up. Abbie Lindeman added a 50 and Leah Larson shot 56 toward the Spartan team total. Jessica Saak and Ashlyn Kuiper contributed a 62 and 67, respectively.

Lindeman was the medalist against South Hardin with a 45, and Avery Dirks was close behind with a 46. Brylee Hoeg and Jessica Saak scored with 60s and Leah Larson and Isabelle Ruth had 65 and 75 on their scorecards.

BEEGHLY, COMET GIRLS TOP AGWSR: Lindsay Beeghly won medalist honors with a 9-hole round of 44 and the BCLUW girls golf team defended the home course with a 198-240 win over AGWSR at South Hardin Rec Area last Monday.

Comet teammate Sydney Anderson was the runner-up with a 47 and Maleah Jones third with a 50. Brooklynn Backoff rounded out the scoring with a 57 for BCLUW; Maggie Ward and Tatum Ridout shot 70 and 71, respectively. Brianna Kruger led the Cougars with a 53 and Avery Lafrenz shot a 56. Taryn Day (61) and Kylie Sillman (70) were the other two scorers for AGWSR; Jaelyn Graham and Gianna Flores contributed 76 and 77-stroke rounds, respectively.

BEUTER MEDALS, D-NH BEATS HUDSON: Jillian Beuter shot a 44, leading Dike-New Hartford girls golf to a 208-267 victory over Hudson at South Hills Golf Course last Monday.

Taya Curtis had a 53, Anna Syharath shot a 55 and Whitney Wauters rounded out the scoring Wolverines with a 56. Samantha Anema and Mia Huntington shot 65 and 81, respectively.
