Dix resigns after kissing video surfaces

The state senator who represents Grundy County and served as the majority leader for the last five years resigned in disgrace on Monday after a video of him kissing a statehouse lobbyist at a Des Moines bar on March 1 surfaced in a story posted by Iowa Starting Line, a left-leaning political blog.

Kling Memorial Library unveils new virtual reality system

GRUNDY CENTER – On any given day, a person could go deep sea diving, hike Mount Everest, or visit space, all without leaving the comfort of the Kling Memorial Library, thanks to a new virtual reality system that’s available for public use.
 
Library Director Lindsey Engelkes says the brand new technology was just set up in February, and will be available for use starting this week.

GRUNDY CENTER – With hosts around the world, AirBNB has changed the way travelers look at accommodation. Now tourists have access to homes, private apartments, beach houses, renovated campers, and even tree houses across the globe, which they can rent for as little as one day, or as long as several months. With over 4 million listings for rent on the website, travelers can now add one more destination to their list: Grundy Center.

Making Iowa great again: Gov. Reynolds, local state legislators credit high national ranking to recent reforms

REINBECK – Governor Kim Reynolds, Representative Pat Grassley and Senator Bill Dix touted the bold agenda and leaps in progress made by Republicans in the statehouse during the annual Grundy County Republicans Reagan Dinner in Reinbeck on Friday night.
 
Reynolds, Grassley and Dix each took time to speak to the crowd about recent successes, new bills and initiatives, to announce that each of them will be running for re-election, and to ask for their continued support during the upcoming Republican Primaries season.

The circle of life: Van Deest inducted into IGHSAU Hall of Fame during Spartan state title game

As Grundy Center set up an out of bounds play down two and in search of a game tying—or winning—shot against Cascade in the Class 2A state championship on Saturday evening, Kim Van Deest got so nervous that she had to turn away. The former Spartan six-on-six standout had been inducted into the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Hall of Fame at halftime, and she was ready to lace up the old sneakers. She wanted to take matters into her own hands.  
           

We're number one! For now, at least

According to a viral clickbait listicle somewhere on the Internet, Iowa is the best state in the United States of America*. The best at what, exactly? We aren’t sure, but we’ll take any compliments we can get. With all of the changes we’re dead set on implementing, however, is there any chance we’ll stay at the top for long?
