CONRAD – Class 1A 13th-ranked BCLUW volleyball placed the serves in the right spots to overwhelm Colo-NESCO in a straight-set victory to begin regional play in BCLUW High School on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
The Comets won 25-10, 25-5, 25-17 to advance to a regional quarterfinal in Conrad against Baxter on Monday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
BCLUW was 67-of-73 serving as a team with 18 total aces. Lizzie Garber was 25-of-25 at the line with nine aces, tied for the sixth-most aces in a single game this season by a Class 1A player.
Garber had three aces in a 6-0 run to start the match, which set the tone for the rest of the night.
"Lizzie hit the serve spots and just had a funny spin on it tonight that they struggled to handle," BCLUW head coach Kristen Garber said. "As a team, we served well and hit those serve spots and that's something we have to work on to keep people out of their system and on their heels."
