BCLUW board accepts bid for gym repairs

The BCLUW school board approved a low bid of $36,770 from Hay Construction to replace the exhaust fan on the cupola of the high school gym.

Garling Construction was the only other bidder at $49,900, and Hay’s bid was within the “upper $30,000s” estimate range that local engineer Larry Olson provided. Superintendent Ben Petty noted that Olson wouldn’t bill the district beyond what his insurance required for his services, and no time frame has been established for when Hay will begin work. The board voted 6-0 to go with Hay (Todd Pekarek was absent).

According to Basmajian, some of the key issues raised among residents included retail, recreation, housing and quality of life.
