Fast fuel: Garber 2nd in 'insane' Drake Relays field (PHOTOS)

CONRAD – No sleep. The burden of expectations and a bundle of nerves.

It would all be over in less than 15 seconds.

Jack Garber burst forth from the blocks in the 110-meter high hurdle finals at the Drake Relays on Friday morning. Linn-Mar's Trent Davis had beaten the BCLUW senior by a hair in the preliminaries.

Garber was faster this time, he could feel it.

The Iowa State recruit later recounted feeling like he was flying. He felt like he had Davis beat.

Then Garber clipped a hurdle. And another.

Read it and sleep

One of my favorite pastimes when any big news story breaks is gauging the way people react to it, especially when it involves the release of a publicly available document they couldn’t be bothered to read themselves. In this regard, the Mueller Report is the granddaddy of ‘em all—a 400-page summary of two years and $30 million worth of work—and yet, I feel like I could’ve hired a group of high school kids to investigate the 2016 election and arrived at roughly the same conclusion.

Supervisors approve two new hospital board members

Rick Smith and Melody Hoy officially became the two newest members of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital board of directors on Monday morning after the board of supervisors voted to approve their confirmations.

Smith, a Grundy Center native who is now back in his hometown, is the vice president of Grundy Center Chamber-Main Street and a member of GCMH’s foundation board. Because he is the son of Grundy County Supervisor Barb Smith, she abstained from voting, and his appointment was approved by a 4-0 measure.

Remembering Brock: Niebuhr reflects on the life of her late husband and the pain of his absence

There are no easy days for Lauren Niebuhr. She can fight it for a minute, two, maybe even five, but before long, she’s thinking of him again.

“I’m constantly thinking about it. I constantly replay what happened in my head with the information I have. It’s difficult,” she said last week. “I think about if there was anything I would’ve said
