Beverly Clark

Beverly Clark, 80 of Eldora passed away November 30, 2015, at Westbrook Acres and under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 4 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Shary Callaway

Shary Ann (Hilsabeck) Callaway, 77, of Conrad passed away peacefully on November 30, 2015, from complications of cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 3 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends from 5 - 7 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Rescue League of Marshalltown.

Vernon Bein

Vernon Bein, 90, of West Des Moines, formerly of Beaman and Marshalltown, died November 23, 2015, in West Des Moines. Funeral services were at the Beaman United Methodist Church November 27. Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and the funeral following with Pastor Gene Kubli officiating. He was laid to rest in the Vienna Cemetery at Beaman. A memorial fund is being established for Vernon Bein.

Gary E. Button

Gary E. Button, 80, of Eldora died November 28, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were December 1 at Ivester Church of the Brethren with Pastor Tim Button officiating. Burial was held prior to the funeral service on December 1 at Sheller Cemetery north of Ivester. Visitation was November 30 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora. Elmer Bern

Elmer Bern, 100, of Lincoln passed away in Grundy Center Hospital and under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.
Funeral services were at Salem Church of Lincoln in Lincoln on Monday, November 30. There was no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Salem Church in Lincoln or American Legion in Reinbech, Iowa. Mid-America Publishing announces merger of Record, Grundy Register

Effective December 2, 2015, the Conrad Record has merged with The Grundy Register. The paper will continue to be a Wednesday publication.

Schutz outlines school district facility needs

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center Community School District’s facilities are in critical need of repair. That was the message sent by Grundy Center Community School District superintendent Jerry Schutz last Wednesday as he outlined the District’s long-term facilities plans.
