Ann Irene Meyer, 89, of Grundy Center passed away October 22, 2015, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center. A funeral service was held on October 26 at Orchard Hill Church @ Lincoln Center in Grundy Center. Visitation was held on October 25 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. Donald Lee Sheller

Donald Lee Sheller, 63, of Waterloo, formerly of Eldora, passed away October 12, 2015, at the Country View Care Center in Waterloo. Nathaniel Charles “Chuck” Bownes, 89, of Morrison passed away October 11, 2015, at his home in Morrison while under Care Initiatives Hospice. Betty M. Wrage-Ehrig, 90, of Grundy Center passed away of natural causes October 7, 2015, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care; while under Cedar Valley Hospice. Crocheting for a cause: Local nurse pays it forward with newborn hats

GRUNDY CENTER – After spending five long weeks in the Allen Hospital NICU when her twins were born 10 weeks early, Lacy Tripp started to think about ways she could brighten the day of someone else who was in the same position as she was.
The idea she came up with: baby hats.
Every newborn baby leaves the hospital with a tiny little hat. Usually, the hats aren’t too elaborate; light blue for the little boys and powder pink for the little girls.
“I thought it would be fun to make more vibrant and colorful hats,” Tripp said.
