GCHS senior embraces her own uniqueness

GRUNDY CENTER — Grundy Center High School art teacher Ronda Sternhagen has seen countless students follow in her footsteps into the world of art. They are photographers, graphic artists ... a couple are even art teachers. And it’s safe to say that none were quite like Sternhagen’s current prodigy, senior Esther Edgerton, who was recently rewarded with a prestigious Art Department Scholarship by the University of Northern Iowa.
“She has a lot of things in her brain ... I’m anxious to see what comes out of it next year at UNI,” Sternhagen said.

Agenda issues cloud Board discussion

GRUNDY CENTER —The biggest point for debate at last Wednesday’s meeting of the Grundy Center Community School District Board of Directors was what should be debated.
The first item on the agenda, about approving the night’s agenda, drew a lengthy debate, as Directors Kelly Mathews and others expressed concern that they had not had enough time to study items on the agenda, including some that had been updated less than three hours before the meeting.
