      WEST DES MOINES – Several local students were recognized by Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Governor Chris Cournoyer for outstanding academic achievement at the 24th Annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony on April 26 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.

GRUNDY CENTER — Arlington Place of Grundy Center, an assisted living and memory care community, continues to bring meaningful experiences to residents through its Dare to Dream program. The program focuses on fulfilling lifelong wishes or revisiting beloved traditions from residents’ pasts.

Dike-New Hartford hosted its annual prom at the University of Northern Iowa's Maucker Student Union. The grand march was held just outside the Union before both the dance and After Prom were held at UNI.

     GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy County Community Foundation awarded more than $150,000 to 22 projects during its 2026 awards celebration April 22 at the Grundy Center Community Center.

     CONRAD – The BCLUW School District Board of Education approved a transition plan that will take the District from three buildings to two.

Orchard Hill Church in Grundy Center has announced that Bob DeBoer will serve as its new campus pastor at its Grundy County Campus.

The announcement came in an e-mail to church members and friends. DeBoer will begin his pastorate in Grundy County in July.

Since earning his Master of Divinity Degree from  Fuller Theological Seminary, DeBoer has served in pastoral ministry for the past 25 years. He currently is serving at Lake Forest Church in Denver, North Carolina. 

GRUNDY COUNTY – Severe thunderstorms in Grundy County early last week left a trail of damage that led to a state-level disaster declaration.

     Governor Kim Reynolds signed the declaration Monday, opening up state resources to those affected by last week’s storms.

DIKE – The Dike-New Hartford School Board approved its Fiscal Year 2027 budget during a budget adoption hearing last Wednesday (April 15) at the high school.

DIKE – The Dike City Council passed the third and final reading of an ordinance adjusting rules for use of downtown sidewalks during its regular meeting April 18.
