The Dike-New Hartford school board heard two requests for a virtual meeting attendance option at their regular meeting on Wednesday, June 17.

MARSHALLTOWN – Four years ago, lifelong friends Paul Murty and Lincoln Stover made a very big decision. 

Using their years of firsthand experience with farming, along with the help of their families and friends, they started their very own business; MURST Ag.

Murty and Stover grew up on local Iowa farms, raised by generations of farmers whose roots run deep in the very ground that they till.

The Grundy Center School board directors adopted a playground construction plan at their recent meeting. 

On Wednesday evening, June 17, the Grundy Center School Board adopted tentative plans for the proposed Grundy Center School District playground project. The board set a public hearing on the plans, contract and estimate of costs for 5 p.m. on July 15 at the next meeting, after which formal plans and a final estimate will be approved.

The theme for Black Dirt Days 2026 was Set Sail to Conrad and events were celebrated Friday and Saturday, June 12 and 13. Attendees braved occasional rainstorms which limited some events. 

Black Dirt Days also celebrated crowning their first-ever Black Dirt Days King: Chad Brown. Little Mr. Black Dirt Days was Quinn Butcher, grandson of Connie Yates, and Little Miss Black Dirt Days was Brynn Matney, daughter of Terry and Emily Matney.
 

Mayor Paul Eberline called the Monday, June 15 meeting of the Grundy Center City Council to order at 6:30 p.m. The meeting started with all rising for the Pledge of Allegiance. After approving minutes from the last meeting and the May 2026 treasurer’s report, the approved an outdoor service area to be added to South Porch Cider Co.’s liquor license.

The RAGBRAI town hall meeting on Monday, June 15 prepared Grundy Center community members and business owners for Highway 14 road closure with minimal access between the north and south side of town. 

The Grundy County Board of Supervisors heard an update on anticipated requirements to meet Senate File 378 at their regular meeting on Monday, June 15.
