As anticipation builds for Grundy Center Health Week: Choose Your Path (June 1–7, 2026), the Grundy Center Wellness Committee is highlighting another important dimension of wellbeing—mental, emotional, and social health.

Avenue of Flags to be set up at Conrad Cemetery

The Avenue of Flags will be put up in the Conrad Cemetery on Saturday, May 23 at 8 a.m.  The committee is asking for volunteers.  Breakfast will be served afterwards at the Beacon Christian Church in Conrad for all volunteers. Flags will be taken down on Monday, May.25 at 5 p.m., weather permitting. 

 

Beaman to celebrate city’s 150th birthday during Memorial Day celebration

BEAMAN – The City of Beaman will celebrate its 150th birthday during Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25, with an expanded community festival.

Quilt show planned during Beaman Memorial Day celebration

     BEAMAN – Beaman will celebrate its 150th birthday during its Memorial Day celebration May 25. As part of the celebration, a quilt show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Beaman United Methodist Church (306 McMartin Street).

   HOLLAND – The Holland City Council discussed its options for fixing a possible water main leak during its regular meeting May 5.

     GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center City Council discussed a recent power outage that affected the City earlier this month.

Primary elections set for June 2

Voters head to the polls June 2 to determine what candidates will face off in November’s mid-term election.

    Several key races are on the ballot this year, including both Iowa governor and U.S. Senate seats that are open after Gov. Kim Reynolds and Sen. Joni Ernst opted not to seek reelection.
